Life is God’s gift, a very precious gift. Because people highly value earthly life, they usually try to improve it, protect it, and prolong it. Yet everyone knows that sooner or later earthly life comes to an end.
When God created man, He also gave him spiritual life, which made fellowship with God possible and brought true blessedness. But man broke God’s commandment and lost that spiritual life.
Man ate the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, concerning which God said: “...in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die” (Genesis 2:17).
Sin separated people from God and broke the close relationship they had with Him.
Along with sin, fear, pain, and death entered human life.
People try to find peace and happiness by their own efforts, but they cannot free themselves from sin or restore their relationship with God.
That is why we need God and His salvation.
God loved people and continues to love them even though they turned away from Him. To restore what man lost in the Garden of Eden, God sent His Son Jesus Christ into this sinful world.
Speaking of the purpose of His coming, Christ said: “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” (John 10:10).
Jesus Christ became the Savior of the world because He took upon Himself the sins of all people and died in their place on the cross, shedding His innocent blood. Jesus Christ did not remain dead. He rose again! Christ, who committed no sin, rose from the dead, conquering death.
Now, because of His resurrection, a person can again receive spiritual life and return to fellowship with God, because the barrier separating man from God has been removed through the death of Christ.
To receive this new life, a person must recognize his sinfulness, repent before God, and turn to Him in faith in Jesus Christ.
The gift of eternal life can now be received through faith in Jesus Christ.
He Himself said: “He that believeth on me hath everlasting life” (John 6:47).
